On January 6th, 2021, I stood in uniform at the heart of our democracy, protecting the U.S. Capitol from a violent mob hell-bent on overturning the results of a free and fair election. I was one of many officers who risked their lives that day—some of whom never made it home. We were battered, bruised, and traumatized. But we stood our ground. Not for any one politician, but for the Constitution.
Now, years later, Donald Trump wants to void my presidential pardon.
Let me be clear: this is not just about me. This is about power. About revenge. About a man who is openly using the tools of government to silence those who oppose him. This is what authoritarians do—weaponize the state to punish dissent, erase truth, and rewrite history in their image.
Trump doesn’t just want to undo a pardon. He wants to send a message: cross me, and I’ll crush you. It’s not subtle. It’s not legal. And it’s certainly not American.
When I stood my ground on January 6th, I was protecting every citizen’s right to live in a country governed by the rule of law—not by the whims of a strongman. Now, I find myself in the crosshairs of that same strongman, simply for doing my job and speaking the truth about what happened that day.
This fight is bigger than me. It’s about whether we will allow one man to hijack our democracy for his own ends. It’s about whether justice still matters in America, or whether fear wins.
I refuse to be silenced.
I refuse to let Trump’s authoritarian tactics define our country. But I cannot fight this alone.
If you believe in democracy, if you believe that no one—including a president—is above the law, then I need you to stand with me. Spread the word. Share this story. Support those who are speaking truth to power. Challenge the lies. Defend the truth. Because if Trump is willing to come after someone like me—someone who put his body on the line to defend the Capitol—he won’t stop there.
He’s coming for whistleblowers, journalists, political opponents, and everyday people who refuse to fall in line. This is how democracy dies—not with a bang, but with silence.
Well, I won’t be silent.
And I hope you won’t either. Are you in?
