Donald Trump’s Lies
The tariff lie, the crime lie, the public health lie
Hey there,
Let me be clear about something:
I’ve seen what lies can do to this country.
On January 6th, 2021, I stood inside the United States Capitol while a violent mob —fueled by Donald Trump’s lies - beat police officers, hunted elected officials, and tried to overturn a free and fair election.
That wasn’t misinformation.
That was blood on the floor.
And now, years later, we’re watching the same playbook unfold — just in different forms.
So today, let me walk you through just a few of Donald Trump’s lies:
1. The Tariff Lie
There’s the lie about tariffs.
Trump loves to say that other countries “pay the tariffs.”
They don’t.
American businesses pay them. American importers pay them. And those costs get passed straight to you.
Families feel it at the grocery store. At the hardware store. When they’re trying to buy school supplies. When they’re trying to fix their car. When they’re trying to make rent.
The President lied. And we all pay for it.
2. The Crime Lie
Donald Trump stands at a podium and says crime in Washington, D.C. is “out of control.” He throws around numbers that don’t match reality. He paints American cities as war zones.
Then he uses those lies to justify deploying the National Guard into our communities. To send ICE into our streets, pulling people out of their cars and away from their children.
Let me tell you something as someone who wore the badge for 16 years: you don’t deploy troops based on vibes and cable news fear mongering.
You deploy them based on facts.
When a president lies about crime statistics to create panic, that’s not leadership. That’s manipulation. That’s manufacturing a crisis to look tough on TV.
And the people who pay the price? Residents. Small businesses. Families who wake up to armored vehicles in their neighborhoods because a politician wanted a headline.
That’s not protecting public safety.
That’s abusing power.
3. The Public Health Lie
Then there’s the lie about Tylenol and autism.
Trump has amplified junk science, claiming that common medications and vaccines are causing autism. He’s used that rhetoric to justify rolling back vaccine requirements in schools and federal programs.
Let’s say this plainly: that lie costs lives.
When leaders undermine confidence in vaccines, vaccination rates drop. When vaccination rates drop, preventable diseases come roaring back.
We’re seeing spikes in measles. We’re seeing outbreaks of diseases we had under control for decades.
Because conspiracy theories are being treated like policy.
Leadership means listening to doctors and scientists, not random Facebook posts.
Leadership means protecting children, not scoring political points.
You can call it “America First” all you want. But if it drains the bank accounts of American families, when it puts our health and safety at risk, it’s not America First.
It’s politics first.
Here’s the truth: Trump’s lies are a pattern
These aren’t random slip-ups. They’re not gaffes.
They’re strategic.
Lie about crime → justify force.
Lie about public health → dismantle safeguards.
Lie about trade → blame someone else when prices go up.
It’s the same playbook we saw before January 6th. Flood the zone with falsehoods. Create confusion. Stoke fear. Then position yourself as the only one who can “fix” the chaos you manufactured.
I’ve lived through where that road leads.
We don’t need more chaos agents in the White House. We don’t need Donald Trump and JD Vance doubling down on misinformation to cling to power.
We need leaders.
Leaders who tell the truth — even when it hurts.
Leaders who stand up to the powerful — even when it costs them politically.
Leaders who respect data, science, the Constitution, and the American people enough not to lie to their faces.
On January 6th, I put my body between a violent mob and the people inside that building. I did that because I believe in this country. I believe in democracy. I believe in truth.
If you want to come for our communities with lies and fear, you’ve got to come through people like me first.
I’m running for Congress because I refuse to sit back and watch disinformation become governing philosophy.
I’m running because Maryland — and this country — deserve adults in the room.
If you’re with me, and you’re tired of the lies, you’re tired of the chaos, and ready for leadership rooted in truth and courage, then I’m asking you to stand with me.
I saw firsthand on January 6th what lies can do.
And I won’t let them tear this country apart again.
